Posts available at: ArtWorks Studios, SOAR Works,
14 Knutton Road, Sheffield, S5 9NU

Salary: £23,400

Why ArtWorks?
Art Works is a not-for-profit creative arts organisation that supports the development of artists who have learning disabilities and/or who are autistic. We are a collective of creatives that care about making a change to the artists we support, the disabilities arts movements and our local environment and community. We support our artists to contribute to society through artistic exploration, exhibitions, events, and volunteer placements.

What does the role involve?

We are looking for a creative individual with a creative background/skills - this could be art, photography, filmmaking, sculpture, animation, or textiles to name a few. A creative degree is preferred. A creative background in your chosen field(s) is considered when no degree is available. We actively seek individuals who are passionate about their creativity. 1 In this role you will be running workshops, creative volunteer placements and community projects for artists with learning disabilities and/or autism. At Art Works, we ensure you are supported to develop as a Workshop Leader through training and shadowing to ensure you feel confident in supporting our artists. A normal day at Art Works could involve supporting another leader to run a workshop, working on commissioned work such as merchandise or a mural off-site, or running your own creative workshop with or without support depending on the activity and group size. At each location, you will be part of a team of like-minded creatives who run the day-to-day art activities for between ten and twenty artists with learning disabilities, autism or both. The role involves running creative workshops and working with the Senior Workshop Leader to develop the activity schedule around our other commitments. An important part of the role is supporting our artists to fulfil their dreams and aspirations and supporting the creation of opportunities for their work to be exhibited. This role allows for creative and practical development, with access to lots of art materials and professional equipment and knowledge. With a staff team of 30 creatives working across ArtWorks, we are a hive of buzzing activity day in and day out. As a creative arts organisation, we are limited only by our imaginations and take on a wide range of projects, from mural work to film shoots, and fashion shows to art competitions. We ask that you have a car and acquire business insurance, as we attend lots of galleries, events, and workshops in other areas, supporting our artists to exhibit far and wide, as well as regularly having fun days out with the artists.
